Ghee Butter Grilled Chicken Breast: A Delicious & Healthy Dish

Diet-Friendly Ghee Butter Grilled Chicken Breast Recipe

Ghee, a clarified butter, is made by heating butter to remove lactose, proteins, and water, leaving pure fat. It’s a popular choice for the ketogenic and low-carb diet (keto-friendly) and is also used in bulletproof coffee. You can even enjoy ghee straight from the spoon without any greasy feeling. This recipe uses ghee to grill chicken breast, and it’s arguably the best chicken breast dish I’ve ever made! It’s simple to prepare yet incredibly delicious. The tender chicken breast, rich ghee, aromatic garlic, and slightly bitter shiitake mushrooms create a perfect harmony. Enjoy this healthy and flavorful meal!

Ingredients
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 10 Korean green chili peppers (kkotgochu)
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 2 Tbsp ghee
  • Pinch of herb salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the vegetables. Trim the stems from the 10 Korean green chili peppers. If any are particularly long, slice them in half lengthwise for better flavor distribution. Halve the 5 cloves of garlic while preserving their shape; this will enhance their aroma and flavor when cooked.

Step 2

Next, we’ll prepare the star of the dish: the chicken breast. Take 2 chicken breasts and, while maintaining their natural shape, thinly slice them in half horizontally (butterfly cut). Aim for a thickness that isn’t too substantial so they cook evenly and absorb flavors well.

Step 3

Now, let’s season the chicken. Sprinkle a pinch of herb salt onto one side of the butterflied chicken breast. The fragrant herbs and salt will complement the mild flavor of the chicken beautifully. Adjust the amount to your liking.

Step 4

It’s time to start grilling! Heat a pan over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of ghee. Ghee has a high smoke point and a wonderful nutty flavor. You’ll notice that unlike regular butter, ghee doesn’t produce much foam when heated, making it clean to cook with. Wait until the ghee is fully melted and slightly shimmering.

Step 5

Once the ghee is hot, carefully place the seasoned chicken breasts into the pan. Let them grill until the first side is nicely golden brown and cooked through. Grilling over medium heat ensures the chicken remains moist inside while developing a lovely sear.

Step 6

When the first side of the chicken breast is golden, flip it over. After a minute or two, add the prepared halved garlic cloves to the pan alongside the chicken. Cooking the garlic with the chicken allows it to soften and release its sweet, aromatic flavor into the dish.

Step 7

Once the garlic is fragrant and starting to turn golden, add the Korean green chili peppers to the pan. Stir-fry them with the chicken and garlic for just a minute or two until they are slightly tender but still vibrant. Avoid overcooking the peppers. Serving the grilled chicken with the tender chili peppers and fragrant garlic creates a truly exceptional taste experience. Enjoy this delightful Ghee Butter Grilled Chicken Breast – a perfect, healthy meal!
