Today, I made some irresistible cheese sticks using plain bread slices! The sight of strings of melted cheese will surely make any cheese enthusiast’s heart flutter. They’re perfect as a delightful snack or a fantastic accompaniment to a cold beer.
Ingredients- 4 slices of bread
- 4 string cheese sticks
- 2 eggs
- Plenty of breadcrumbs
- A sprinkle of dried parsley (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim off the crusts from all four sides of the bread slices. This step makes rolling them much easier later on.

Step 2
After trimming the crusts, the next crucial step is to roll the bread as thinly as possible. If you don’t have a rolling pin, you can use a clean beverage bottle, just like I did! The thinner you roll the bread, the crispier and more delicious your cheese sticks will be.

Step 3
Crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them together with a fork or whisk until well combined. This egg wash will help the breadcrumbs adhere beautifully.

Step 4
Place a string cheese stick at one end of a flattened bread slice. Roll the bread tightly around the cheese. To ensure it stays sealed, lightly brush the edges of the bread with some of the egg wash before rolling. This will help the cheese stick hold its shape.

Step 5
Dip each rolled cheese stick first into the egg wash, making sure it’s fully coated. Then, generously coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to help the crumbs stick. Ensure an even coating of breadcrumbs all around.

Step 6
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over low heat. It’s important to cook them on low heat to prevent the bread from burning before the cheese melts. Fry until all sides are golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack to remove excess oil. Finally, sprinkle with dried parsley for a beautiful finish. You’re done!
