Ingredients- 20 cloves garlic (adjust to your preference)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 bowls cooked rice (warm)
- 1 Tbsp butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Garlic is the star of this fried rice! I’ve prepared about 20 cloves to really bring out the garlic flavor. If you love garlic, don’t hesitate to add more – the more garlic, the tastier it gets!
Step 2
Prepare the garlic by mincing some and slicing the rest thinly. Roughly mince about 2-3 cloves, and thinly slice the remaining ones. If you’re using pre-minced garlic, make sure to pat it dry with paper towels. Excess moisture can cause the garlic to splatter when frying.
Step 3
Add a moderate amount of cooking oil to your pan. While it might seem like you need a lot of oil to infuse garlic flavor, too much can leave the fried rice greasy. Since we’ll be adding butter later, just enough oil to sauté the garlic should suffice.
Step 4
Add both the minced garlic and sliced garlic to the pan. Be careful, as minced garlic can burn easily over high heat, resulting in a bitter taste. Keep the heat on low and gently stir-fry the garlic, allowing its aroma to release slowly without burning.
Step 5
Once the garlic releases a fragrant, nutty aroma, add a pinch of salt. Then, pour in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Letting the soy sauce sizzle and caramelize along the edges of the pan will enhance its flavor and aroma, adding depth to your fried rice.
Step 6
After the soy sauce has fragranced, stir it well with the sautéed garlic. Mix everything together so the garlic and soy sauce are evenly distributed.
Step 7
Now, add the cooked rice to the pan. Stir-fry thoroughly, breaking up any clumps of rice with your spatula, ensuring the rice is well combined with the garlic and soy sauce mixture. The key is to coat every grain of rice with flavor.
Step 8
Once the fried rice is well combined and heated through, add 1 tablespoon of butter. The butter will add a rich, savory creaminess, elevating the overall taste of the fried rice. Stir quickly to melt and incorporate the butter.
Step 9
Finally, plate your delicious garlic fried rice attractively. Serve immediately and enjoy this simple yet incredibly satisfying dish! You can also top it with a fried egg or some chopped green onions for an extra touch of flavor.
