Gourmet Spam and Cheese Fried Eggs
A Creative Twist on Spam and Fried Eggs with Cheese
Inspired by a delicious cheese burger, I decided to create a fried egg dish that resembles a burger. This recipe offers a delightful combination of flavors and textures, perfect for a hearty breakfast or a delightful brunch.
Ingredients- 4 fresh eggs
- 4 slices of cheese
- 1 can of canned luncheon meat (large)
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the canned luncheon meat. Open the can, remove the contents, and slice two thin pieces from the wide surface. Slicing them thinly will help them cook evenly and quickly.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and place the thinly sliced luncheon meat. Cook until it turns a light golden brown. The key is to grill it gently to bring out its savory flavor. Once cooked, transfer the slices to a plate and set aside to cool slightly.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare the eggs. Carefully crack four eggs into the pan. Sprinkle a little black pepper over each egg yolk to enhance the flavor. We’ll be making two well-done eggs and two sunny-side-up or over-easy eggs. For the well-done eggs, cook them until the yolks are completely firm.
Step 4
The well-done eggs will serve as the base for our ‘burger’. In the remaining space in the pan, or in a separate pan, cook the other two eggs to your desired doneness. For sunny-side-up, aim for the whites to be set while the yolk remains runny and luscious.
Step 5
Place one slice of cheese on top of each of the well-done fried eggs. The residual heat from the eggs will start to melt the cheese, adding a creamy texture and rich flavor.
Step 6
Layer one slice of the cooked luncheon meat on top of the cheese. Don’t worry if the cheese melts and drips slightly over the sides; this is normal and adds to the rustic charm. Just proceed to the next step confidently!
Step 7
Finally, top the luncheon meat with the remaining slice of cheese. Then, carefully place a freshly cooked egg (your sunny-side-up or over-easy one) on top. Your Spam and Cheese Fried Egg creation is now complete! Enjoy this delightful dish while it’s warm.
