Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing the ingredients for your Tako Wasabi Maki. Have your warm rice and Tako Wasabi ready.
Step 2
Take one sheet of gim (seaweed for kimbap). Cut it in half lengthwise, and then cut each half into three equal strips. These strips are the perfect size for making maki rolls. Place a spoonful of rice onto one of the gim strips and spread it evenly. Then, carefully roll it up using a bamboo mat or your hands to form a tight cylinder. Once rolled, generously top the roll with the Tako Wasabi. This alone makes a delicious Tako Wasabi Maki.
Step 3
To add a vibrant touch of color, sprinkle some finely chopped green onions over the Tako Wasabi topping. Your visually appealing Tako Wasabi Maki is now complete.
Step 4
Now, let’s prepare the Yurin-yuk. Get your delivery pork cutlets ready. (Example: 4 large pork cutlets for 9900 KRW, which are quite substantial and suitable for two people). Using multiple cutlets will make your dish even more generous.
Step 5
Arrange a generous portion of fresh salad greens on your serving plate. Drizzle the Oriental dressing evenly over the greens. ‘Yurin-yuk’ is inspired by the Chinese dish ‘Yurin-gi’ (crispy fried chicken with a sweet and sour sauce). Here, we substitute chicken with pork cutlet. (Note: In Chinese cuisine, ‘gi (鷄)’ refers to chicken, and ‘yuk (肉)’ refers to meat. ‘Yurin-gi’ is chicken, while ‘Yurin-yuk’ signifies pork.)
Step 6
Slice the prepared pork cutlet into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on top of the dressed salad greens. Traditionally, ‘Yurin-gi’ is a dish of fried chicken served with a tangy sauce, often enjoyed as an appetizer or salad course in Chinese meals, similar to a chicken salad.
Step 7
Finally, drizzle the accompanying pork cutlet sauce over the crispy pork cutlet to complete your ‘Yurin-yuk’. (Example: Used 2.5 cutlets; the rest were saved for the next day!). This simple preparation results in a satisfying and delicious meal. The combination of fresh salad, crispy pork, and savory sauce is truly delightful.
