Main Ingredients
- 1 block Tofu (approx. 300g)
- 80g Sea Asparagus
- 20g Walnuts
- 15g Dried Cranberries
- 3 Breadsticks (long type)
- 1 slice Cheddar Cheese
- 3 Tbsp Cream Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk
- A little Cooking Oil
- A little Salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash and prepare all ingredients. The first step to creating your Tofu Christmas Tree is to gather fresh ingredients!
Step 2
First, pat the tofu dry with paper towels. Then, slice it into triangular shapes, about 1.5cm thick. Sprinkle a pinch of salt (about two pinches) over the sliced tofu and let it sit for 5-10 minutes for seasoning. This helps to slightly firm up the tofu and infuse it with flavor.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil. Place the seasoned tofu slices one by one and pan-fry them until they are golden brown and slightly crisp on both sides. Be careful not to burn them on high heat; flip them gently to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, let the tofu cool slightly to maintain its shape.
Step 4
Finely chop the fresh sea asparagus after washing and draining it. This will add a touch of fresh green to your tree, resembling a snowy landscape.
Step 5
Break the breadsticks in half (to about 5-7cm length) to create the trunk of the tree. Finely chop the dried cranberries and walnuts. The tartness of the cranberries and the nuttiness of the walnuts will create a wonderful harmony with the tofu.
Step 6
In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk, and the finely chopped walnuts. Mix well with a spatula or fork until smooth and evenly combined to create the ‘cream cheese spread’. This spread will add flavor when applied to the tofu.
Step 7
Thinly spread the prepared cream cheese spread onto the pan-fried and cooled tofu slices. Sprinkle the finely chopped sea asparagus over the spread for a fresh green color, like decorating a Christmas tree.
Step 8
Place the dried cranberries here and there as accents. Their red color will act as festive ornaments on your Christmas tree. It’s best to distribute them evenly rather than clustering too many together.
Step 9
Now, it’s time to assemble the Christmas tree shape! Arrange the pan-fried tofu slices on a plate, stacking them from bottom to top to naturally form a tree shape. Insert the three prepared breadstick halves into the bottom as the sturdy trunk. Finally, place a star cut from cheddar cheese on top of the tree. Voila! Your edible and delightful ‘Tofu Christmas Tree’ is complete, ready to brighten your year-end party table!
