This recipe is perfect for a quick and healthy meal at home. Let me guide you through making this delightful egg pizza step-by-step.
Pizza Ingredients- 4 fresh eggs
- 100g mozzarella cheese
- 60g tomato sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1/4 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/4 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/4 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 sausage, sliced
- 4 strips bacon, cut into pieces
- 5 cherry tomatoes, halved
- 10 slices black olives
- A pinch of dried parsley (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your pizza toppings. Wash the onion and bell peppers thoroughly, remove the seeds, and then slice them thinly into strips. Slicing them this way ensures a pleasant texture after cooking.
Step 2
Wash the cherry tomatoes, remove their stems, and cut them in half. Halving them makes them easier to eat and allows their sweetness to develop more when cooked.
Step 3
Slice the sausage into rounds, about 0.5 cm thick. Avoid making them too thick so they cook evenly.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat with a little oil. Add the sliced sausage and sauté until lightly browned and cooked through. Cook slowly over medium heat to ensure the sausage releases its juices and becomes flavorful.
Step 5
Cut the bacon into approximately 2 cm pieces. Bacon adds a wonderful savory flavor and texture to the pizza.
Step 6
In the same pan or a separate one, cook the bacon until crispy and golden brown. You can use the rendered bacon fat to cook other ingredients for extra flavor. Set aside the cooked sausage and bacon.
Step 7
Now, let’s prepare the egg ‘dough.’ Crack the 4 fresh eggs into a bowl. Gently whisk them until well combined, being careful not to create too much foam. A smooth mixture is key.
Step 8
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add the 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, then lightly wipe the pan with a paper towel to create a thin, even coating. Pour the whisked eggs into the pan and cook slowly, much like making a thin omelet or crepe, until the bottom is set.
Step 9
When the bottom of the egg layer is fully cooked and the top is about 70% set (still a little moist), carefully use a spatula to flip it over. Ensure the heat is not too high to prevent burning.
Step 10
Once flipped, spread the tomato sauce evenly over the cooked egg base. Be mindful not to use too much sauce, as it could make the pizza too wet or salty.
Step 11
Arrange the sliced onions, yellow bell peppers, red bell peppers, and the pre-cooked sausage and bacon over the tomato sauce. Distribute them evenly for a beautiful and tasty topping.
Step 12
Generously sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over all the toppings. Enough cheese will melt to bind everything together and create that classic pizza pull.
Step 13
Finally, artfully arrange the halved cherry tomatoes and black olive slices on top of the cheese. These add color and bursts of flavor.
Step 14
Cover the skillet with a lid and continue to cook over low heat until the mozzarella cheese is completely melted and bubbly. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Low and slow is key here.
Step 15
Once the cheese is perfectly melted and gooey, remove the lid. Sprinkle a pinch of dried parsley over the top for a fresh finish. Your healthy and delicious egg pizza is ready to be enjoyed!
