Hearty and Delicious Homemade Tuna Kimbap
Enjoy a satisfying meal with easy-to-make Tuna Kimbap

Hello, I’m Gureumdalbit! Today, I’ll share how to make a delicious 1-serving Tuna Kimbap right at home. We often make kimbap at home. Honestly, buying kimbap can sometimes be cheaper and tastier, but I once got food poisoning from store-bought kimbap, which was a difficult experience, so from then on, I’ve been making it myself. I find that no matter what ingredients you add to kimbap, it always tastes good! I do admit that you need to choose ingredients that complement each other well for the best flavor, but kimbap feels like a forgiving and easy dish to make. Plus, just one roll of kimbap is incredibly filling, making it a perfect meal. Today, I’ll teach you how to make delicious Tuna Kimbap!
Ingredients- 1 sheet of kimbap seaweed
- 4 perilla leaves (kkaennip)
- 1 handful of julienned carrots
- 1 crab stick
- 1 pickled radish strip (danmuji)
- 1/4 piece of fish cake (eomuk)
- 1 small can of tuna
- 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 scoop of cooked rice
- Sesame seeds
- Sesame oil
- Salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, season the julienned carrots with a pinch of salt and stir-fry them in a pan with a little oil until they are lightly browned. Cut the fish cake and crab stick into similar sizes and stir-fry them with the carrots. Let the stir-fried ingredients cool down slightly. This pre-cooking step will add a richer flavor to your kimbap fillings.

Step 2
Drain the oil completely from the can of tuna. Transfer the tuna to a bowl and mix it with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Mixing with mayonnaise helps to remove any fishy odor and adds a creamy, savory taste.

Step 3
Place the kimbap seaweed sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread about one scoop of cooked rice thinly and evenly over the seaweed. Lay the perilla leaves on top of the rice; this prevents the seaweed from becoming soggy and adds a lovely aroma. Next, arrange the prepared carrots, fish cake, pickled radish, and crab stick. Evenly distribute the tuna mixture on top. Using the bamboo mat, roll the kimbap tightly and firmly, ensuring the ingredients don’t spill out. Your delicious Tuna Kimbap is now complete! Slice it into bite-sized pieces and enjoy.
