Hearty and Delicious Tuna Rice Bowl
Easy Tuna Seasoning Rice Bowl Recipe
A satisfying meal can be made with just one tuna seasoning! Enjoy it over rice as a donburi, or wrap it in fresh lettuce or fragrant perilla leaves for a delightful change. It’s also delicious as a filling for mini kimbap, which kids will love. Enhance the nutrition and flavor by using up any leftover vegetables from your fridge.
Main Ingredients- 1 can Tuna (drained)
- A little Kimchi (finely chopped)
- Assorted leftover vegetables from the fridge (e.g., onion, carrot, zucchini, mushrooms) as needed
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Open the canned tuna and drain the oil thoroughly. This oil can be used later when stir-frying the vegetables to add flavor. However, if you prefer a cleaner taste, you can discard it and use regular vegetable oil or canola oil instead.
Step 2
Finely chop the kimchi and prepare your assorted vegetables from the fridge (such as onion, carrot, zucchini, mushrooms) by cutting them into similar bite-sized pieces. Feel free to use any vegetables you have on hand, as they all complement this dish well.
Step 3
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil (either the reserved tuna oil or vegetable oil) in a frying pan or pot over medium heat. Add the prepared vegetables and stir-fry until they become slightly translucent and tender.
Step 4
Once the vegetables are partially cooked, add all the seasoning ingredients. Mix in 1.5 tablespoons of gochujang and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup (or rice syrup/sugar) to add a savory depth and a hint of sweetness. If you don’t like sweetness at all, you can reduce or omit the corn syrup. Add 0.5 tablespoon of minced garlic, a little ginger juice for aroma, and a pinch of black pepper.
Step 5
Continue to stir-fry, ensuring the seasoning is well combined with the vegetables. To prevent burning, maintain medium heat and cook until most of the moisture released from the vegetables has evaporated and the sauce has thickened slightly. This will result in a delicious tuna seasoning. Serve generously over a bowl of warm rice for a satisfying rice bowl!
