Essential Ingredients

  • Oatmeal 50g (for 1 serving)
  • Dried seaweed 2g
  • 1 small can of tuna (85g)
  • 1 egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your ingredients. Measure out 50g of oatmeal, 2g of dried seaweed, 1 egg, and 1 small can of tuna (85g). Reserve some of the tuna for topping later.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the dried seaweed in a colander and rinse it thoroughly under running water to remove any dust or impurities. Let it soak in water for about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Step 3

Once rehydrated, cut the seaweed into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm long, using scissors or a knife. Cutting it shorter makes it easier to eat.

Step 3

Step 4

After cutting, place the seaweed back in the colander to drain any excess water. If there’s too much water, the porridge might turn out bland.

Step 4

Step 5

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 50g of oatmeal with 250ml of water. You can adjust the water amount between 250ml and 300ml depending on the type of oatmeal and your preferred consistency.

Step 5

Step 6

Drain most of the oil from the canned tuna and add about half of it to the oatmeal bowl. Add the drained seaweed and 0.5 Tbsp of tuna extract. (You can choose to drain the tuna oil or leave it in, as you prefer. The remaining tuna will be used as a topping.)

Step 6

Step 7

Carefully crack 1 egg directly into the oatmeal mixture.

Step 7

Step 8

Gently break the egg yolk with a spoon and stir everything together gently until well combined. Don’t worry if the egg white remains slightly in clumps.

Step 8

Step 9

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, but leave a small opening on one side or poke a few holes with a chopstick. This allows steam to escape and prevents the wrap from bursting or puffing up excessively in the microwave.

Step 9

Step 10

Microwave the covered bowl for 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Adjust the time as needed to ensure the oatmeal is cooked and the egg is semi-cooked. (Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage.)

Step 10

Step 11

Once done, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave and remove the plastic wrap. Stir the porridge with a spoon to mix the cooked egg, oatmeal, and other ingredients.

Step 11

Step 12

Taste the porridge. If it’s not salty enough for your liking, add another 0.5 Tbsp of tuna extract or a tiny pinch of salt and stir well. Adjust the seasoning to your preference.

Step 12

Step 13

Finally, top the porridge with the reserved canned tuna.

Step 13

Step 14

Drizzle 0.5 Tbsp of sesame oil over the porridge to add a nutty aroma and flavor.

Step 14

Step 15

Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired, for the final touch. Your delicious and healthy Tuna, Seaweed, and Egg Oatmeal Porridge is ready! Enjoy this nutritious and tasty meal.
