Main Ingredients- 2 handfuls rice cake soup slices (tteokguk tteok) (approx. 200g)
- 2 dumplings
- 1 handful green onion (approx. 30g)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 packet beef bone broth (simulated) (sago gomtang) (approx. 1L)
- 1 egg
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the toppings for your Tteok Mandu Guk. Crack the egg into a small bowl and add the finely chopped green onion. Gently whisk them together with a fork or chopsticks until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Step 2
Now, let’s cook the soup. Pour the packet of beef bone broth into a pot and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Once the broth is simmering, add the rice cake soup slices. Stir gently to prevent them from sticking together, and add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic to enhance the flavor of the broth.
Step 3
As the rice cakes soften and the soup returns to a boil, carefully add the 2 dumplings. Stir occasionally to prevent the dumplings and rice cakes from sticking to the bottom of the pot, and cook until the dumplings are done. They will typically float to the surface when cooked.
Step 4
Once the dumplings have floated to the surface, slowly pour the prepared egg mixture in a circular motion around the edges of the pot. As the egg begins to set, gently stir with chopsticks to create ribbons of cooked egg. Let it simmer for about 3 more minutes for all the flavors to meld beautifully. Your delicious Tteok Mandu Guk is ready to be enjoyed warm!
