Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s make the cake batter. In a bowl, combine the hotcake mix, 1 egg, and milk. Add milk gradually and mix well with a whisk until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. Ensure the consistency is not too thick or too thin.
Step 2
Prepare your Hello Kitty face-shaped hotcake mold. Before pouring the batter, lightly grease the inside of the mold with butter, grapeseed oil, or olive oil. This will help the cake release easily later. Fill the mold only about halfway with batter, as the hotcake will puff up as it cooks. Pouring too much will cause it to overflow. Cook over low heat.
Step 3
Your Hello Kitty hotcake mold likely has a specific section with small holes to create the facial features. Carefully sift cocoa powder over these holes. This will imprint Kitty’s face details onto the hotcake as it bakes.
Step 4
Once baked, gently remove the Hello Kitty hotcake from the mold. The cocoa powder should have formed Kitty’s facial outline. This will serve as one of your cake layers.
Step 5
Now, let’s prepare the whipped cream. Pour 200ml of whipping cream into a clean bowl. For best results and quicker whipping, place this bowl over another bowl filled with ice water. Keeping the cream cold helps it whip up faster and become firmer.
Step 6
While a hand blender or electric mixer makes this process much faster, you can achieve great results with a whisk. If using a hand whisk, be prepared to whip for about 20 minutes – it requires a bit of effort! The cream is ready when it holds stiff peaks (meaning when you lift the whisk, the cream stands straight up) and doesn’t slide out when you tilt the bowl. You can add a little sugar to sweeten it, to your liking.
Step 7
Time to assemble the cake! Place one of your Hello Kitty hotcakes as the base. Spread a layer of whipped cream and arrange some sliced fresh strawberries on top. Add another hotcake layer, then more cream and strawberries. If you like, a light brush of syrup on the cake layers before adding cream will make it even moister. Your adorable Hello Kitty Strawberry Cream Cake is now complete!
