Ingredients- 7 medium-sized potatoes
- 2 pinches of salt
- 40g unsalted butter
- Generous amount of honey
- A sprinkle of parsley flakes
- Plenty of cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by peeling the skin off 7 medium-sized potatoes. Ensure they are thoroughly washed before peeling to remove any dirt.
Step 2
Use a mandoline slicer to thinly and evenly slice the potatoes. This step is crucial for achieving a perfectly crispy texture. Slice them as uniformly as possible.
Step 3
Soak the sliced potatoes in cold water for about 10 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, preventing the chips from sticking together when fried and contributing to their crispiness. Afterward, drain them well in a colander.
Step 4
Pat the potato slices completely dry with paper towels. Removing as much moisture as possible is essential for safe frying and achieving crispy chips, as water can cause oil to splatter.
Step 5
Pour enough cooking oil into a frying pan to submerge the potato slices halfway. Heat the oil over medium heat and carefully fry the potato slices until they turn golden brown. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become brittle.
Step 6
Once the potato chips are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. This step helps maintain their crispiness.
Step 7
In a clean pan (or after wiping out the frying pan), melt 40g of unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Melt the butter slowly and gently to prevent it from burning.
Step 8
Once the butter is fully melted, add the fried potato chips to the pan. Gently toss them to coat evenly with the melted butter. Be delicate to avoid breaking the chips.
Step 9
Turn off the heat. Drizzle a generous amount of honey over the chips – about three swirls is a good starting point, but adjust to your sweetness preference. Gently toss again to ensure the honey coats the chips.
Step 10
For the final touch, sprinkle some dried parsley flakes over the honey butter chips for a pop of color and herbaceous aroma.
Step 11
Enjoy your homemade, crispy, and delightfully sweet and savory Honey Butter Potato Chips! They are best enjoyed fresh, but can also be cooled for an even crispier texture. Delicious! 🙂
