Cooking Instructions
Step 1
For the tonkatsu, I used pork tenderloin. I asked the butcher to pound it thinly for tonkatsu.
Step 2
Whisk the eggs in a bowl to prepare the egg wash.
Step 3
Prepare the tempura flour, egg wash, and panko breadcrumbs in order.
Step 4
First, coat the pork evenly with tempura flour.
Step 5
Then, dip it in the egg wash to coat.
Step 6
Finally, place it on the panko breadcrumbs and press firmly to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.
Step 7
Now they are ready! After coating all the pork pieces this way, place them one by one in a ziplock bag and freeze. When you want to eat them, take them out, thaw, and fry.
Step 8
While deep-frying is ideal for the crispiest result, to save oil, you can pour a generous amount of oil into a pan and cook them like pan-frying.
Step 9
Cook over medium-low heat to ensure the inside cooks thoroughly and evenly.
Step 10
Flip and cook the other side until done. This completes the tonkatsu.
Step 11
Serve the crisply fried tonkatsu on a plate and enjoy with ketchup or tonkatsu sauce, according to your preference.
