Ingredients

  • 500g frozen cherries
  • 400g granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Start by preparing your frozen cherries, which are readily available and preserved at peak freshness. Allow the cherries to thaw completely. Once thawed, gently mash them by hand. You don’t need to puree them; leaving some texture will give your jam a delightful bite.

Step 1

Step 2

Transfer the mashed cherries into a saucepan. Evenly sprinkle the granulated sugar over the top of the mashed cherries.

Step 2

Step 3

Gently stir the cherries and sugar together with a spatula or spoon until well combined. You can let this mixture sit for a little while to allow the sugar to start drawing out the juices from the cherries.

Step 3

Step 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes. The jam is ready when it reaches a syrupy consistency. It will thicken further as it cools, so aim for a consistency slightly thinner than your desired final jam when hot. Be careful not to over-reduce it.
