Homemade Plum Preserve
Simple Homemade Plum Preserve Recipe for Delicious Summer Fruit Jam
After the rain, the fruits seemed a bit bland… I had some plums that were starting to wilt because I neglected them due to their lack of flavor, so I decided to make plum preserve! Enjoy refreshing drinks and sweet desserts with this easy homemade fruit preserve.
Ingredients- 7 ripe plums
- 1 cup sugar (approx. 200g)
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (optional, for added tanginess)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare a glass jar for storing the plum preserve. Sterilize the jar by boiling it in hot water. Be careful to prevent the glass jar from breaking due to sudden temperature changes. Place the jar in a pot with about half the amount of water and bring it to a boil together. Once the water is vigorously boiling, steam will fill the jar. Continue boiling for another minute in this state. After sterilization, stand the jar upright and let it air dry at room temperature.
Step 2
You can use the plum skin when making plum preserve, but since my plums had been stored for a while, the skin felt a bit unappealing. Therefore, I peeled them all off. Please note this as you make yours.
Step 3
Remove the pits and separate the fruit pulp. Similarly, because the plums were old, the pulp was soft, so I mashed it all. You can also slice them according to your preference. Place the separated fruit pulp and juice into a bowl.
Step 4
Add 1 cup of sugar to the bowl with the plum pulp. Mix the sugar and the plum pulp thoroughly until well combined.
Step 5
Transfer all the contents into the thoroughly dried glass jar. Finally, add a small amount of lemon juice. Cover with a lid and let it age in the refrigerator for 1 day. Your plum preserve is ready!
