Main Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of wine of your choice (red or white)
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 apples
  • 500ml sparkling water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (or 1/2 lemon)
  • 2-4 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the base wine for your Sangria. You can use either red or white wine depending on your preference. Wines that are sweet or have a medium body pair wonderfully with fruits. Make sure your sparkling water is chilled, as it adds a refreshing effervescence.

Step 1

Step 2

If you have a fresh lemon, juice half of it. If not, prepare 2 tablespoons of store-bought lemon juice. Lemon juice adds a bright, zesty note that balances the sweetness of the Sangria.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the fruits that will infuse flavor into your Sangria. Wash 2 oranges and 2 apples thoroughly. Since you’ll be using the peels, it’s crucial to clean them meticulously, perhaps using a fruit wash or vinegar. For the oranges, consider slicing them thinly or peeling them to avoid any bitterness from the rind. Remove the cores from the apples and slice them thinly.

Step 3

Step 4

Select a glass pitcher or jar to make your Sangria. Sterilize the inside of the container with hot water to ensure it’s hygienic. After sterilizing, make sure to dry it completely.

Step 4

Step 5

Slice the prepared apples and oranges thinly, about 0.5 cm thick, after removing the cores. Thinner fruit slices will allow their flavors to meld better with the wine.

Step 5

Step 6

Arrange the thinly sliced apples and oranges attractively in the sterilized and dried pitcher. Layering the fruits can make your Sangria visually appealing.

Step 6

Step 7

Pour the wine over the fruits in the pitcher, ensuring the fruits are mostly submerged. Next, add the chilled sparkling water, about the same volume as the wine. The sparkling water adds a delightful fizz and makes the drink lighter.

Step 7

Step 8

Finally, add the lemon juice and sugar. Adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of your wine and your personal preference. You can also add a touch of honey for extra sweetness. Stir everything well, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours to allow the fruit flavors to infuse into the wine. For a richer, sweeter Sangria, you can increase the amount of fruit or add more sugar. Enjoy your delicious, homemade Sangria!
