  • 250ml vinegar
  • 250g sugar
  • 200ml ketchup
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 50g sesame seeds, finely ground

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly slice the 4 onions. Add a generous amount of cooking oil to a pan and sauté the sliced onions over medium heat.

Step 1

Step 2

Continue to cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they turn a rich, deep brown color. This caramelization process is key to developing a sweet and complex flavor base for the sauce.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the onions have a nice brown hue, add the 100g of all-purpose flour to the pan. Stir well and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, coating the onions with the flour. This step helps to thicken the sauce and adds a nutty aroma.

Step 4

Now, it’s time to add the liquids. Pour in the 500ml of soy sauce, 250g of sugar, 250ml of vinegar, and 200ml of ketchup. Add a pinch of black pepper. Stir everything together to combine, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.

Step 5

Once the sauce begins to bubble, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency. Finally, stir in the 50g of finely ground sesame seeds for an extra layer of flavor and nutty fragrance.
