Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients needed for the waffle batter by measuring them out. Melt the butter using a microwave or low heat before you start.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine 200g of milk with 1 Tbsp of lemon juice and mix well. Let it sit for about 15 minutes until the milk thickens and curdles slightly. Add 60g of sugar and 3g of salt to this mixture, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 3
Crack 1 egg into the slightly curdled milk mixture. Whisk gently with a whisk or fork until well combined. It’s important to whisk it thoroughly to eliminate any eggy smell.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, sift 180g of all-purpose flour and 1 tsp of baking powder together. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix with a spatula using a cutting motion until just combined, being careful not to overmix and create lumps. Once no dry flour is visible, add the melted butter and mix gently one last time to complete the waffle batter. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the waffles tough.
Step 5
Preheat your waffle iron. Lightly brush both the top and bottom plates of the waffle iron with oil or butter to prevent the batter from sticking. Using a paper towel can help ensure an even coating.
Step 6
Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for about 3 minutes. This batter yields approximately 5 waffles. If you only have one waffle iron, it might take some time to bake them all. Consider purchasing a double waffle iron if you plan to make waffles frequently.
Step 7
Carefully remove the cooked waffles from the iron and let them cool slightly. Once warm, generously top the waffles with creamy vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with sweet honey instead of syrup (chestnut honey pairs wonderfully with vanilla ice cream!). Finally, garnish with fresh frozen berries, mint leaves, and edible flowers for a beautiful presentation. Your delicious waffle is ready!
Step 8
Voilà! Your tempting waffles are ready. I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful presentation of these homemade treats. Isn’t it wonderful to enjoy such a fantastic dessert at home without having to go to a cafe?
Step 9
Despite my family’s eagerness to dig in, I patiently took photos, marveling at my own creation. Hehe. On a hot summer day like this, I highly recommend making these refreshing and delicious waffles at home for your family to enjoy together!
Step 10
The chestnut honey I have at home has a pleasant slightly bitter taste, but when mixed with vanilla ice cream, the bitterness harmonized beautifully with the sweetness, creating a surprisingly delicious combination! From now on, I’ll definitely be pairing chestnut honey with vanilla ice cream. What a delightful flavor discovery!
Step 11
Thanks to the fantastic combination of vanilla ice cream and freshly baked warm waffles, we all shared a wonderfully sweet and happy time. My family loved them so much they said they could eat them every day! Now, I wonder if I’ll have to make waffles daily… Haha.
