These super simple mini burgers, made with sweet honey hotteok, are perfect for lunchboxes or as a delightful snack for kids. They’re irresistibly delicious because of their sweet, honey-infused flavor. Enjoy a quick and tasty homemade burger experience!
Ingredients- 2 Honey Hotteok (Korean sweet pancakes)
- 1 slice Processed Cheese
- 1 Egg
- 20g Butter
- 1 slice Sandwich Ham (or bacon)
- A little Cooking Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly grease it with a little cooking oil, then toast the honey hotteok and the sandwich ham until golden brown. You can substitute the ham with crispy fried bacon for an extra layer of flavor. After toasting the ham and hotteok, add 20g of butter to the pan and lightly grill each side of the hotteok until it’s golden and slightly crispy. This will add a wonderful buttery aroma and texture.
Step 2
While the hotteok is toasting, use the remaining butter in the pan to fry an egg. I personally find that a sunny-side-up egg with a runny yolk tastes better in this burger, as it creates a wonderfully moist and rich filling. However, feel free to cook it to your preferred doneness, whether it’s over-easy or fully cooked.
Step 3
Now, let’s assemble the mini burgers. Place one of the butter-toasted hotteok halves on a plate or your work surface, with the toasted side facing up. Layer the sandwich ham evenly on top of the hotteok.
Step 4
Gently place the freshly fried egg on top of the ham. Be careful not to break the yolk if you’ve cooked it sunny-side up; a gentle placement will keep everything intact.
Step 5
Next, add a slice of processed cheese on top of the fried egg. The residual heat will help the cheese melt slightly, binding all the delicious layers together.
Step 6
Finally, place the other butter-toasted hotteok half on top to complete your Honey Hotteok Mini Burger “McMorning”! This delightful creation is perfect for a quick breakfast, a fun snack for children, or even a light meal.
