Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Hello everyone! Today, I’ll share a special secret for boiling corn, a method you might already know, but enhanced to make your corn chewier and sweeter. This technique truly brings out the corn’s natural flavor.
Step 2
Gently peel the outer husks from the corn, leaving just the innermost layer attached. Don’t discard the corn silk (hairs); set them aside separately. The corn silk will come off easily if you grasp it all at once and pull, almost like unzipping it. This step helps reduce excess moisture on the kernels, contributing to a chewier texture.
Step 3
Rinse the peeled corn kernels and the reserved corn silk gently under cool water 2-3 times. This process removes any residue or dust clinging to the corn.
Step 4
Thoroughly wash both the corn kernels and the corn silk. This ensures your corn is enjoyed hygienically.
Step 5
Place the prepared corn kernels and corn silk into a pot. Then, pour in enough water to completely submerge the corn. If there isn’t enough water, the corn might not cook evenly.
Step 6
Now, add 1 teaspoon of salt and close the lid tightly. Boil the corn over high heat for about 25 to 30 minutes. Starting on high heat is crucial to ensure the corn is penetrated with heat thoroughly.
Step 7
When the time is up, carefully remove a kernel and taste it to check for doneness. If the corn is cooked through, turn off the heat, keep the lid on, and let it steam for about 5 minutes. This steaming process deepens the corn’s sweetness and softens its texture. Enjoy your perfectly cooked corn!
