How to Steam Chodang Corn

  • 2 Chodang Corns
  • 600ml Water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare 2 fresh and plump Chodang corns. Look for cobs with full kernels and vibrant green husks for the best flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Gently peel back the outer husks of the corn, leaving just one layer intact. Be careful not to remove too many layers, as this can cause the corn to dry out. Gather the silks at the top and pull them downwards to remove them cleanly.

Step 2

Step 3

Lightly rinse the prepared Chodang corns under running water to remove any dust or debris. Avoid soaking them for too long.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, let’s set up the steamer. Pour 600ml of fresh water into a pot. Place a steamer basket securely inside the pot. Ensure the water level is below the bottom of the steamer basket.

Step 4

Step 5

Arrange the prepared Chodang corns on the steamer basket, ensuring they are evenly spaced. Cover the pot tightly with its lid. Turn the heat to high on your stovetop to begin steaming.

Step 5

Step 6

Once you see steam gently rising from under the lid, reduce the heat slightly from high to medium-high or medium. Steam for approximately 10 to 15 minutes from the moment the steam starts escaping. The exact steaming time may vary depending on the size of the corn and your stove’s heat, so adjust accordingly.

Step 6

Step 7

After steaming for just over 10 minutes, turn off the heat completely. Keep the lid on and let the corn steam in its residual heat for about 3 minutes. This resting period allows the corn to finish cooking evenly and infuse with flavor.

Step 7

Step 8

Carefully lift the lid after the resting period. You should see beautifully steamed, golden Chodang corn! Your steaming method is complete. Enjoy the burst of sweetness immediately while it’s warm!
