- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 2 Tbsp tonkatsu sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start making delicious hamburger steaks! First, prepare the ground pork. Finely mince the onion, eggplant, and garlic. Mincing the vegetables finely will help them blend well into the mixture and create a tender texture when cooked.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, finely minced onion and eggplant, minced garlic, and 1 egg. Add a pinch of salt, black pepper, 1 Tbsp of cooking sake (or mirin), and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce. Mix and knead the ingredients thoroughly until a cohesive mixture forms. Kneading well by hand will enhance the steak’s texture.
Step 3
Once the mixture has developed some elasticity, add 1.5 Tbsp of all-purpose flour and gently mix it in. The flour helps absorb moisture and bind the ingredients together. Ensure the mixture isn’t too sticky.
Step 4
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties. Create a slight indentation in the center of each patty and place 2 slices of Seoul Milk Gouda Cheese inside. Carefully enclose the cheese with the meat mixture, sealing it completely to form a round steak shape.
Step 5
Heat 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Place the prepared hamburger steak patties in the pan. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Covering the pan and cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side will ensure the steaks are cooked through and remain juicy.
Step 6
Once the steaks are cooked, pour a sauce made by mixing 2 Tbsp of ketchup and 2 Tbsp of tonkatsu sauce in a 1:1 ratio over the steaks. Alternatively, you can reduce the sauce slightly in the pan and serve it alongside the steaks for an even richer flavor. Enjoy with warm rice or a side salad!
