Cooking Instructions
Step 1
To begin your delicious sirloin steak journey, prepare your beef sirloin. Pat the sirloin dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture, which helps achieve a better sear. For this recipe, we’ll be using about 2 tablespoons of butter per steak. Feel free to customize the accompanying vegetables based on your preferences; using leftover ingredients from your fridge can make for a resourceful and tasty meal.
Step 2
For the vegetables to grill alongside the steak, I’ve chosen sweet onions, vibrant cherry tomatoes, and aromatic whole garlic cloves. If you’d like to add more color and variety, consider grilling broccoli or asparagus too. Wash and prepare your chosen vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
Step 3
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a heated pan over medium-low heat. It’s important to melt the butter slowly to prevent it from burning. You’ll know it’s ready when a rich, buttery aroma fills the air.
Step 4
Once the butter is fully melted, carefully place the sirloin steak, along with the prepared onion slices, cherry tomatoes, and garlic cloves, into the pan. Gently searing the vegetables first will help them absorb the steak’s flavors.
Step 5
As the steak cooks, lightly season the surface with herb salt. The doneness of your steak is entirely up to your preference. Since steak thickness and pan heat can vary, there’s no single ‘correct’ cooking time. The best method is to check the internal color by making a small cut into the center of the meat. Once the surface is golden brown, flip it to cook the other side to your desired level of doneness.
Step 6
First, arrange the cooked vegetables (tomatoes, onions, garlic) attractively on one side of your serving plate. Then, place the sirloin steak, cooked to your preferred doneness, alongside the vegetables. Your mouth-watering steak presentation is now complete!
Step 7
If you feel the steak needs a little extra something, consider adding some pan-fried potato wedges or seasoned canned corn on the side for a more substantial meal (optional). Finally, drizzle your favorite store-bought steak sauce over the steak and finish with a light sprinkle of parsley flakes for an elegant touch.
Step 8
I cooked mine to a medium-rare, and the result was fantastic – a crisp exterior with a wonderfully tender and juicy center, not tough at all! Even the kids absolutely loved it; my eldest finished theirs so quickly and wished for more! Making sirloin steak at home is surprisingly simple, isn’t it? Next time, I might even try making my own steak sauce for an even more special dish!
