Essential Ingredients

  • 4 ripe, firm tomatoes
  • A moderate amount of ground pork or beef (approx. 100-150g)
  • 1/3 onion (small size)
  • 75g pizza cheese
  • A pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 4 ripe tomatoes, about 100-150g of ground pork (or beef), 1/3 of a small onion, and one 75g packet of pizza cheese. Also, have some black pepper ready.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly. Then, use a knife to cut off the stem end, creating a ‘lid.’ Be careful not to cut too deep, just enough to make a lid.

Step 2

Step 3

Using a spoon, gently scoop out the inside of each tomato, leaving the shell intact. Place the scooped-out tomato pulp into a separate bowl. It’s important to scoop softly to avoid damaging the tomato’s shape.

Step 3

Step 4

Hollow out the insides of all the tomatoes, ensuring they are empty. This will create little edible bowls ready to be filled.

Step 4

Step 5

Gather the scooped-out tomato pulp in one place and mash it with a fork or spoon. Mashing it to a moderate consistency, without large chunks, will help the flavors blend better and improve the texture.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat a little oil in a frying pan. Add the ground meat and cook for about 30 seconds until it starts to change color. Then, add the finely chopped onion and the mashed tomato pulp. Sprinkle with a pinch of pepper and stir-fry over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes until the ingredients are well combined.

Step 6

Step 7

Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. Carefully place the hollowed-out tomatoes onto the parchment paper. Ensure they are placed stably so they don’t tip over.

Step 7

Step 8

Fill each tomato generously with the stir-fried mixture. Top with the pizza cheese. The cheese will melt and add a wonderful flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

Place the tomato lids back on top. Set your air fryer to 200°C (392°F) and cook for 20 minutes. Cook until the cheese is melted and golden, and the tomatoes are tender.

Step 9

Step 10

Remove the beautifully finished stuffed tomatoes and enjoy! They are best served warm.
