Main Ingredients- 250g Vienna sausages (quantity adjustable to preference)
- 200g Fresh chives (about 1.5 handfuls)
- 1/2 Yellow bell pepper (seeds removed)
- 1/2 Red bell pepper (seeds removed)
- 3 Cloves garlic (minced, or 3 thinly sliced pieces)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thinly slice the garlic into approximately 0.3cm thick pieces. This will release a rich garlic aroma, enhancing the dish’s flavor.
Step 2
Wash the chives thoroughly and cut them into roughly 5cm lengths. Cutting them too small can cause them to become mushy when stir-fried, so keep them at a substantial size.
Step 3
Slice the yellow and red bell peppers into strips about 0.3cm thick. Their vibrant colors will stimulate the appetite and add texture.
Step 4
Make 2-4 shallow cuts on the surface of the Vienna sausages. Scoring them allows heat to penetrate evenly, ensuring they cook through, and makes them look appealing as they bloom during cooking.
Step 5
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the sliced garlic and stir-fry slowly until a gentle aroma is released. Be careful not to burn the garlic; cooking it gently is key.
Step 6
Once the garlic has released a good aroma, add the scored Vienna sausages to the pan and stir-fry them together. The sausages will get coated in the oil and start to turn golden brown.
Step 7
When the scored parts of the Vienna sausages begin to open up and cook, add the prepared chives and the colorful bell peppers. Stir-fry quickly over high heat. It’s important to stir-fry rapidly before the vegetables wilt to maintain their crispness.
Step 8
As the chives begin to soften slightly, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to season. Oyster sauce adds a savory depth, and sesame oil brings a nutty fragrance.
Step 9
Continue to stir-fry for about another minute, ensuring all ingredients are well combined with the oyster sauce. Finally, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for garnish. Your delicious Stir-Fried Vienna Sausage and Chives, loved by both kids and adults, is now ready!
