Key Ingredients

  • Leftover Tangsuyuk (Korean Sweet and Sour Pork)
  • Original Tangsuyuk Sauce
  • 1 Cheongyang chili pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Here we have the delicious Tangsuyuk and its sauce, leftovers from a previous meal! To elevate them, I’m adding a spicy kick with a Cheongyang chili pepper and a unique flavor boost from chili sauce. First, finely chop the Cheongyang chili pepper. If you enjoy a spicier taste, you can leave the seeds in; otherwise, remove them for a milder heat.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, it’s time to bring back the crispiness to our slightly softened Tangsuyuk. Heat a non-stick frying pan over low to medium-low heat. Be careful not to use high heat, as this can burn the outside before the inside is warmed. Gently turn the pieces of Tangsuyuk over and cook until they are golden brown and crispy. This step helps prevent the pork from absorbing more oil and revives its texture, making it almost like it’s freshly fried.

Step 2

Step 3

While the Tangsuyuk is crisping up, let’s upgrade the sauce. I pushed the crispy Tangsuyuk to one side of the pan and prepared the sauce in the cleared space. Alternatively, you can combine the original Tangsuyuk sauce with the chopped Cheongyang chili pepper and chili sauce in a separate bowl, then add it to the pan. Feel free to choose the method that’s most convenient for you.

Step 3

Step 4

Pour the original Tangsuyuk sauce into the pan (or your prepared bowl), add the chopped Cheongyang chili pepper and chili sauce. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. If the sauce seems too thick, you can add a tablespoon of water to reach your desired consistency. Stirring continuously will prevent the sauce from sticking and ensure all the flavors meld together beautifully.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the sauce is bubbling gently, carefully move the crispy Tangsuyuk pieces into the sauce. Gently toss them to ensure each piece is evenly coated in the warm, spicy sauce.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, give everything a final gentle toss to make sure the sauce coats every piece of Tangsuyuk. Be quick – you don’t want to overmix, or the pork might lose its crispiness again! Once coated, turn off the heat immediately. Serve warm and enjoy this delightful transformation of leftover Tangsuyuk into a spicy, savory, and utterly irresistible dish!
