Main Ingredients
  • 15 Flattened dumplings
  • Scallions, some (chopped thinly)

Sauce Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Water
  • 1 Tbsp Vinegar
  • 1.5 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup)
  • 0.5 Tbsp Gochugaru (red pepper flakes)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly chop the scallions you’ll use for the dipping sauce. Wash them thoroughly before chopping. Slicing them thinly helps them blend well with the sauce.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp water, 1 Tbsp vinegar, 1.5 Tbsp oligodang, and 0.5 Tbsp gochugaru. Mix well with a spoon to create a delicious dipping sauce. Using oligodang instead of sugar adds a beautiful sheen to the sauce.

Step 3

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the flattened dumplings in the pan and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Ensure they are cooked thoroughly for maximum crispiness and flavor.

Step 4

Arrange the well-cooked flattened dumplings on a serving plate, cutting them into bite-sized pieces if desired.

Step 5

Finally, evenly distribute the chopped scallions over the dumplings, then drizzle the prepared dipping sauce over them. For an extra touch of nutty flavor and visual appeal, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. Your delicious Daegu-style flattened dumplings with dipping sauce are now complete!
