Ingredients- 12 fresh button mushrooms
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic (for aromatic depth)
- 1/2 tsp fine salt (for basic seasoning)
- A pinch of freshly ground black pepper (for a hint of spice)
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for smooth flavor and moisture)
- 10g unsalted butter (for richness and deliciousness)
- 50g finely chopped onion (for a touch of sweetness)
- 100ml white wine (to remove any gaminess and enhance flavor)
- 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for a refreshing finish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently wipe each fresh button mushroom with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt or debris. This method helps preserve the mushrooms’ natural flavor better than rinsing them with water.
Step 2
Finely chop the onion. When sautéed, finely chopped onion will melt into the dish, creating a smooth texture and balancing the flavors beautifully.
Step 3
Preheat a deep pan or wok over medium heat. Once hot, add the olive oil and butter together. Let the butter melt completely. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent and fragrant. Then, arrange the prepared mushrooms in the pan, stem-side down if possible, and cook over medium heat. Flip them occasionally to ensure they brown evenly.
Step 4
Once one side of the mushrooms has turned a beautiful golden brown, flip them over and cook the other side until it’s equally well-browned. As the mushrooms cook, they will release some moisture, which will then evaporate, resulting in a delightfully chewy texture.
Step 5
After both sides of the mushrooms are nicely cooked, reduce the heat slightly. It’s time to build more flavor! Pour in the white wine and let it simmer until the alcohol aroma dissipates. Next, add the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and chopped parsley. Stir everything together and cook for a few minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the mushrooms beautifully. Let the mushrooms absorb the delicious sauce.
Step 6
The alcohol from the wine will evaporate quickly, leaving behind all the wonderful flavors. Once the sauce has slightly reduced, turn off the heat. Serve immediately on a nice plate while still warm for the best taste and texture experience. Enjoy them alongside your favorite steak!
