Main Ingredients

  • 600g thinly sliced beef for bulgogi
  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/2 onion
  • 100g cabbage

Secret Marinade

  • 8 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup mirin (approx. 100ml)
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup (approx. 100ml)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (approx. 50ml)
  • 2 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s create the special marinade that’s the key to delicious bulgogi. In a large bowl, combine 8 Tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml) mirin, 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml) corn syrup, 1/4 cup (approx. 50ml) sugar, and 2 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix them well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 1

Step 2

Add the thinly sliced beef for bulgogi to the well-mixed marinade. Gently massage the beef, separating the slices to ensure the marinade coats every piece evenly. Marinating the beef like this will make it incredibly tender and infuse it with deep flavor. We recommend marinating for at least 20 minutes.

Step 2

Step 3

While the beef is marinating, let’s prepare the vegetables. Thinly slice the carrot and onion so they cook well with the bulgogi. Cut the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Prepping the vegetables like this will save you time when cooking.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add all the marinated beef. Using chopsticks, gently separate and stir-fry the beef until it’s broken up. Stir-frying while separating the pieces prevents them from clumping together and ensures even cooking.

Step 4

Step 5

When the beef is about 70-80% cooked and has changed color, add the prepared carrot, onion, and cabbage to the pan. Stir-fry everything together. As the vegetables cook, their natural juices will mingle with the beef juices, creating a wonderfully flavorful bulgogi.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the vegetables are tender-crisp, your bulgogi is ready! Serve it over warm rice, or add a little more broth to make it like a delicious hot pot. Enjoy your meal!
