A super simple yet satisfying meal you can make in a flash! This Mandu-bap (dumpling rice) recipe is perfect for those busy days or when you just don’t have the energy to cook. Using your microwave, you can whip up a hearty and delicious meal in just 5 minutes, with minimal cleanup.
Main Ingredients
- 1 bowl of cooked rice
- 4 frozen dumplings
- Mozzarella cheese (as much as you like)
Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a microwave-safe bowl, spread out a layer of warm, freshly cooked rice. Arrange the 4 frozen dumplings evenly on top of the rice. Feel free to adjust the number of dumplings according to your preference.
Step 2
Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, then poke a few small holes in the wrap with a toothpick or fork. This allows steam to escape, ensuring the dumplings cook through. Microwave for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave. Using kitchen scissors or a knife, cut the dumplings into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Add 1 tablespoon of Gochujang and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix everything together well, ensuring the sauce coats the rice and dumplings evenly. The spicy and savory sauce will enhance the flavors.
Step 4
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the mixture. Return the bowl to the microwave and heat for another 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve immediately and enjoy this incredibly easy and delicious meal!
