Main Ingredients

  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 leaves of cabbage
  • 1 piece of carrot
  • 1/5 onion
  • 1/2 green onion
  • 100g beef
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • Canned corn, appropriate amount (optional)

Seasoning and Spices

  • 5 Tbsp curry powder
  • A pinch of herb salt
  • A little Mirin (or cooking wine)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the beef into bite-sized pieces. Marinating the beef with a little Mirin (or cooking wine) at this stage will make it even more tender and remove any gamey odor, resulting in a much tastier dish.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the potatoes and carrot thoroughly, peel them, and then cut them into cube shapes that are easy to eat with the curry.

Step 2

Step 3

Pour an appropriate amount of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. This will serve as the broth base for cooking the vegetables.

Step 3

Step 4

In another pan, lightly heat some oil and stir-fry the sliced cabbage and prepared beef. Sprinkle a little herb salt on the beef for seasoning. Stir-frying until the cabbage becomes slightly translucent will bring out its sweetness.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the water is boiling, add the diced carrots and potatoes and cook until the vegetables are tender. When the vegetables are almost cooked, add the stir-fried beef and cabbage, then add 5 tablespoons of curry powder. Stir well to ensure the powder is evenly mixed without clumping.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the onion cut into cubes. (You can also add it when stir-frying the beef and cabbage.) Finely slice the green onion lengthwise and add it. If you have canned corn, adding it will make the texture richer. If the curry becomes too thick, add a little more water, and if it’s too bland, add a bit more curry powder to adjust the taste.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, slowly pour in 1/3 cup of milk while stirring gently to combine. Adding milk will further soften the curry’s flavor and enhance its creamy taste. Once all ingredients are well combined, your delicious curry rice bowl is ready! Serve generously over warm rice and enjoy.
