Main Ingredients

  • 3 handfuls of bean sprouts (approx. 300g)
  • About 4 cups (800ml) of water
  • 0.5-1 tsp coarse sea salt (for boiling)

Cooking Instructions

First, thoroughly wash 3 handfuls of bean sprouts under running water. Place the washed bean sprouts into a pot and add about 4 cups of water, enough to almost cover them. Add 0.5-1 tsp of coarse sea salt and cover with a lid. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer for about 8-10 minutes. Boiling them just right is key to keeping them crisp and free of a raw smell.

Once the bean sprouts are cooked, drain them well using a colander. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become mushy. Transfer the drained bean sprouts to a mixing bowl.

Add 1 Tbsp of finely chopped green onion and 0.5 tsp of salt to the bean sprouts. Gently mix everything together. The green onion adds a subtle fragrance and enhances the flavor. Season with salt, adding a little more if needed to reach your desired taste.

Finally, drizzle in 1-1.5 Tbsp of perilla oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Gently toss one more time to combine. Your delicious white seasoned bean sprouts are now ready!
