  • 1/2 green onion, chopped

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 150ml of Milkis (carbonated milk drink)
  • 2 tsp of soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp of gochujang (red chili paste)
  • 1.5 Tbsp of cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all the ingredients for the tteokbokki. Fresh ingredients are the foundation of delicious food.

Step 1

Step 2

Chop the green onion into large pieces and thickly slice the onion. Cut the gara-tteok in half for easy eating, and cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Your tteokbokki ingredients are now ready!

Step 2

Step 3

Heat the cooking oil (1.5 Tbsp) in a pan over low heat. Add the gochujang (2 Tbsp) and stir-fry for about 20 seconds. Stir-frying the gochujang briefly helps to mellow its raw flavor, resulting in a cleaner taste.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, pour in the Milkis (150ml). The sweetness and fizziness of the carbonated drink will form the base of your tteokbokki sauce, giving it a unique flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the prepared tteok (rice cakes) and fish cakes to the pan. Gently stir to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the sliced onion as well. The natural sweetness of the onion will blend with the sauce, adding a deeper flavor profile.

Step 6

Step 7

Add the soy sauce (2 tsp) to balance the overall seasoning. This step is crucial for achieving a harmonious sweet and savory taste.

Step 7

Step 8

Bring everything to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Be sure to stir to prevent the tteokbokki from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, add the chopped green onions and turn off the heat. Give it one last gentle stir to finish. Your delicious Milkis Tteokbokki is complete! Enjoy the chewy tteok, tender fish cakes, and the uniquely sweet flavor of Milkis.
