Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the hot dog batter. In a bowl, combine the 200g of hot cake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup of milk. Whisk with a whisk or fork until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. If the batter seems too thick, feel free to add a little more milk.
Step 2
Gently blanch the Vienna sausages in boiling water for about 1 minute. Then, rinse them under cold water to cool them down. This helps the sausages become firmer and prevents them from bursting when fried. After blanching, pat the sausages completely dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Now it’s time to coat the sausages with batter. Spear each blanched and dried sausage onto a mini skewer to secure it. Dip the skewered sausage into the prepared batter, ensuring it’s evenly and thoroughly coated all around. Make sure the batter is thick enough to adhere well; if it’s too thin, it might drip off.
Step 4
For an extra crispy texture, you can roll the battered sausages in breadcrumbs. This step is optional, but coating them in breadcrumbs will result in a golden-brown and wonderfully crunchy hot dog after frying.
Step 5
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a small pot over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the battered and breaded (if using) sausages into the oil. Fry them quickly, turning them frequently, for about 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Once the exterior is cooked, gently turn them a few more times to ensure the sausages cook through evenly.
Step 6
Remove the perfectly fried mini hot dogs from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess grease. Serve them warm and enjoy with your favorite toppings like ketchup, yellow mustard, or a sprinkle of sugar! They are a guaranteed hit for lunchboxes or parties.
