My First Homemade Fudgy Brownies
Bake Cafe-Quality Rich and Chewy Brownies at Home
I’m absolutely obsessed with brownies lately! Ever since I tasted a delicious brownie at a charming local cafe a month ago, I can’t forget its rich, fudgy, and chewy texture. While the cafe brownie was amazing, it sadly caused three large pimples around my mouth due to the flour, leaving scars that are still visible. Because of this, I’ve decided to make my own brownies at home so I can enjoy them without any worries! With this recipe, you can easily recreate cafe-quality brownies in your own kitchen.
Brownie Batter Ingredients- 150g Dark Chocolate (70% cacao or higher recommended)
- 130g Unsalted Butter
- 2 Fresh Eggs
- 80g Unrefined Sugar (Muscovado sugar)
- 80g Rice Flour
- 10g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 5g Baking Powder (approx. 1 tsp)
- A dash of Vanilla Extract (for enhanced flavor)
- Walnuts or Pecans (optional, approx. 50g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Melt Chocolate and Butter over a Double Boiler: First, dice the dark chocolate and unsalted butter and place them in a heatproof bowl. Set the bowl over a saucepan filled with simmering water, and gently melt the chocolate and butter over low heat until completely smooth and lump-free. Once fully melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Step 2
Whisk Eggs and Sugar: In a separate bowl, crack the 2 eggs and whisk them well with a whisk. Add the unrefined sugar (Muscovado sugar) and mix until the sugar is dissolved. At this stage, add about one teaspoon of vanilla extract to further enhance the brownie’s aroma and flavor.
Step 3
Combine Mixtures and Fold in Dry Ingredients: Pour the slightly cooled chocolate-butter mixture into the egg-sugar mixture and stir well to combine. Sift the rice flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder together directly into the wet ingredients. Gently fold everything together with a spatula until just combined and no dry streaks remain. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a tough brownie. If using optional nuts, gently fold them in at this stage.
Step 4
Bake the Brownies: Pour the prepared brownie batter into a baking pan (approx. 20x20cm or 8×8 inches) and spread it evenly. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and bake for about 20 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs attached – this indicates the perfect fudgy texture. Baking times and temperatures can vary depending on your oven model, so keep an eye on it. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting for the best chewy texture.
