Main Ingredients

  • 500g Noodle Tteokbokki Rice Cakes (wide and flat)
  • 1 Large Sausage (or 10 Vienna Sausages)
  • 200ml Heavy Cream
  • 500ml Water
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 King Oyster Mushroom

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup) or honey (adjust sweetness)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all your ingredients. I’m using a large sausage here, but you can substitute with bite-sized Vienna sausages if you prefer. Slice the large sausage into desired pieces.

Step 1

Step 2

Soak the noodle tteokbokki rice cakes in cold water for about 5 minutes until they soften. After soaking, rinse them thoroughly under running water. This step helps the rice cakes absorb the sauce better and achieve a chewy texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Pour 500ml of fresh water into a pot. This will form the base of your delicious tteokbokki.

Step 3

Step 4

Slice the king oyster mushroom into bite-sized pieces (about 0.5cm thick) and thinly slice the onion. Having your vegetables prepped beforehand will speed up the cooking process.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the soaked and rinsed noodle rice cakes, along with the prepared king oyster mushroom and onion slices, into the pot. Including a variety of vegetables adds more depth and flavor to the dish.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s make the star of the show: the Rosé sauce! In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp Gochujang, 2 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 Tbsp Oligodang (or honey), 1 Tbsp Sugar, and 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth, ensuring there are no lumps. Preparing the sauce in advance makes cooking much easier.

Step 6

Step 7

Pour the prepared sauce into the pot with the rice cakes and vegetables. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the rice cakes are about 80-90% cooked. Be careful not to overcook the rice cakes, as they can become too soft.

Step 7

Step 8

Once the rice cakes are nearly cooked, add the sliced sausage to the pot. If using Vienna sausages, you can add them whole or cut them in half. The sausage makes the tteokbokki even more substantial and satisfying.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, pour in 200ml of heavy cream. Stir gently just once to combine all the ingredients, and let it simmer until the sauce thickens slightly. Your delicious Noodle Tteokbokki with Rosé Sauce is now complete! Enjoy its creamy, rich, and slightly spicy flavor.
