Nostalgic Lunch Box
Recreate the Cherished Memories of a Lunch Box at Home
Do you miss the warm lunch boxes your mother used to pack on chilly days in your childhood? We’ve recreated that beloved taste – reminiscent of lunch boxes warmed on a coal stove – that both kids and adults adore, right in your own kitchen. The vibrant colors and comforting flavors will awaken your appetite and make for a satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- 50g Pink Sausage
- 100g Well-fermented Kimchi
- 1 small can Tuna (approx. 100g)
- 2 Eggs
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, slice the pink sausage into bite-sized pieces (about 0.5cm thick half-moons). This will add that nostalgic touch to your lunch box.
Step 2
Next, crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them thoroughly. Dip the sliced pink sausage into the beaten eggs, ensuring each piece is well coated.
Step 3
Place the egg-coated pink sausage slices in a lightly oiled frying pan over medium-low heat. Pan-fry them until golden brown and lightly crispy on both sides. Their appealing golden color will enhance the meal.
Step 4
Now, let’s stir-fry the kimchi. Rinse and finely chop the well-fermented kimchi, squeezing out excess moisture. Heat a little oil in a frying pan and add the chopped kimchi to stir-fry.
Step 5
Once the kimchi is partially cooked, add 1/2 teaspoon of oligosaccharide for a touch of sweetness and a pinch of ground black pepper. Stir-fry them together. The sweetness will balance the kimchi’s tanginess, creating a delicious seasoning.
Step 6
When the kimchi is well stir-fried, drain the excess oil from the small can of tuna and add it to the pan. Stir-fry with the kimchi for another minute or so, allowing the flavors to meld. The tuna’s savory notes will add depth to the dish.
Step 7
After adding the tuna and kimchi, sprinkle in some toasted sesame seeds for a nutty flavor and pleasant texture. The popping sensation of the seeds adds a fun element.
Step 8
Finally, drizzle in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to enhance the aroma and flavor. Stir-fry briefly once more. This completes your delicious stir-fried kimchi. Turn off the heat and let it rest for a moment in the residual heat.
Step 9
In another frying pan, prepare a sunny-side-up egg. A soft, runny yolk will add richness when you mix everything together in the lunch box.
Step 10
While a traditional metal lunch box would be ideal for authenticity, a regular round bowl or a square container will work perfectly well. The key is to arrange the ingredients attractively.
Step 11
Start by filling your chosen container with a base of warm rice. This is the foundation of your lunch box.
Step 12
Next, artfully arrange the stir-fried kimchi next to the rice. Sprinkle a few more sesame seeds over the kimchi for an appealing finish.
Step 13
In another section, place the golden-brown, pan-fried pink sausage slices. Their vibrant colors will make the lunch box look more inviting and abundant.
Step 14
Finally, gently place the perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg on top of the rice. The glistening yolk is sure to stimulate your appetite.
Step 15
And there you have it – a colorful and delicious lunch box that evokes cherished memories! Enjoy mixing it all together and savoring the taste of the past.
Step 16
Consider adding your prepared side dish (like the stir-fried fish cakes) alongside the main components for an even more satisfying and varied meal. It’s also delicious mixed with the stir-fried kimchi!
