- 1/4 head of cabbage
- 1 stalk of green onion (10cm)
- 1/2 onion
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 2 bowls of cooked rice
Sauce- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or oligodang
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or similar)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or oligodang
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or similar)
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Slice the green onion, cheongyang chili pepper, and red chili pepper diagonally. Finely julienne the onion and carrot.
Step 2
Julienne the cabbage. Rinse the julienned cabbage lightly under water to keep it crisp. Drain well and set aside.
Step 3
Since this is a rice bowl dish, cut the squid into smaller pieces than usual, making them easy to mix with rice. Remove the innards and backbone, clean thoroughly, and then cut into bite-sized pieces.
Step 4
Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the julienned carrots and stir-fry until their surfaces are slightly cooked. Once the carrots are lightly cooked, add the julienned onion, cabbage, and the small pieces of squid.
Step 5
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp gochujang, 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes, 1 Tbsp corn syrup, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic, 3 Tbsp cooking wine, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well to create the sauce. Add this prepared sauce to the pan.
Step 6
Keep the heat on high and stir-fry continuously until the squid is fully cooked. Stir-frying over high heat helps maintain the crispness of the vegetables and the chewiness of the squid.
Step 7
Once the squid is cooked, add the sliced green onion, cheongyang chili pepper, and red chili pepper. Stir-fry for another minute. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds for added aroma and turn off the heat.
Step 8
Spoon the generously stir-fried squid and vegetable mixture over a bowl of warm rice. Sprinkle a little more sesame seeds on top for the final touch. Your delicious Ojingeo Deopbap is ready to be enjoyed! Mix it all together and savor the flavors.
