Hello everyone, this is ‘Bulryang Eomma Sojamae Mami’! My mother has been diligently drying bundles of dried radish greens (uraegi and siraegi) for me lately. Even though I tell her it’s a lot of work and difficult to dry, she insists on doing it herself to ensure it’s clean and safe. Thanks to her efforts, my home is overflowing with delicious siraegi and uraegi! It seems parents’ hearts are all the same, as my mother-in-law also kindly sends some over. Today, we’ll be making ‘Siraegi Namul Bokkeum’ using these precious dried radish greens. It’s a savory and incredibly nutritious side dish that everyone will love!

Main Ingredients
  • Siraegi (well-boiled and prepared dried radish greens)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Doenjang (fermented soybean paste)
  • 2 Tbsp perilla seed powder
  • Minced green onion (to taste)
  • 3 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Place the prepared siraegi into a stir-fry pan. While the heat is still off, add all the seasoning ingredients: 1 Tbsp doenjang, 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp perilla seed powder, and minced green onion to your liking. Gently knead the ingredients into the siraegi with your hands until well combined and the seasonings are evenly distributed. Let it marinate for about 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 2

Drizzle 3 Tbsp of sesame oil over the seasoned siraegi. Now, place the pan on the stove and turn on the heat to begin stir-frying. The key is to cook over medium-low heat.

Step 3

Stir-fry for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the siraegi becomes tender and fragrant. This delicious siraegi namul bokkeum is made using my mother’s secret recipe! It’s incredibly delicious served over a bowl of warm rice.
