Main Ingredients- 1/2 block firm tofu (approx. 150g)
- 1 egg yolk
- 10g chives (about a small handful)
Tofu Seasoning- 2/3 Tbsp soy sauce (approx. 10ml)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce (approx. 15ml)
- 2/3 Tbsp soy sauce (approx. 10ml)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce (approx. 15ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the chives thoroughly, pat them dry, and finely chop them. Finely chopped chives add great texture and color as a topping for your bibimbap.
Step 2
Prepare 1/2 block of tofu. Use paper towels to thoroughly press out as much moisture from the tofu as possible. Once the moisture is removed, place the tofu in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat without any oil. Stir and crumble the tofu as it cooks, allowing its moisture to evaporate. Continue to break it down until it resembles a crumbly texture, similar to ‘soboro’ (Korean crumble topping).
Step 3
Once most of the moisture has evaporated and the tofu is crumbly, add 2/3 Tbsp of soy sauce and 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce. Stir continuously to coat the tofu evenly with the sauce. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning, and sauté for another 2-3 minutes until the tofu absorbs the flavors and becomes richer. Your delicious tofu soboro is now ready!
Step 4
Now, assemble your bibimbap. Place warm rice in a bowl, and generously top it with the freshly cooked tofu soboro. Arrange the finely chopped chives attractively over the tofu, and place the egg yolk in the center. Finally, sprinkle some black sesame seeds for an extra nutty flavor. Your visually appealing, nutritious, and incredibly tasty Tofu Soboro Bibimbap is complete!
