We’re making rice with a delightful combination of white rice, chewy glutinous brown rice, and sweet green peas. This recipe will guide you to a satisfying and flavorful meal. Enjoy the wholesome goodness of green pea rice, easily prepared right in your rice cooker!
Rice & Grains- 2 cups white rice
- 1 cup glutinous brown rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your rice and glutinous brown rice. Place them in a bowl and gently rinse by swirling them 2-3 times. Be careful not to rub too vigorously, as this can wash away beneficial nutrients. After rinsing, transfer the cleaned rice and glutinous brown rice to your rice cooker’s inner pot.

Now, let’s get the green peas ready. If you’re using frozen green peas, place them in a sieve and rinse them lightly under running water. For fresh green peas, shell them and rinse the individual peas under running water. Evenly distribute the prepared green peas over the rice in the rice cooker. Next, add water according to your rice cooker’s measurement lines, or slightly less than you normally would for white rice (or according to your cooker’s multigrain setting). Too much water can make the rice mushy. Select the ‘Brown Rice’ or ‘Multigrain’ setting on your rice cooker and start the cooking process.
Step 3
Once your delicious green pea rice is cooked and has finished steaming, open the rice cooker lid. You’ll see the steaming rice beautifully mixed with the green peas. Using a rice paddle, gently fluff the rice from the bottom up, being careful not to mash the grains. This will ensure that the sweetness and nutrients of the green peas are evenly distributed throughout the rice, making every bite more enjoyable. Serve warm, or pair it with a soy sauce seasoning or kimchi for an even more delightful meal!
