Main Ingredients
  • Dried seaweed, appropriate amount (approx. 10g)
  • Hotcake mix 100g
  • Milk 30ml
  • 1 egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the dried seaweed. Soak it in cold water for about 5 minutes until softened. Once the seaweed is fully rehydrated, drain it.

Step 2

Squeeze out the excess water from the rehydrated seaweed with your hands. Then, finely mince it using a knife. Finely minced seaweed will incorporate evenly into the pancake batter and result in a smoother texture.

Step 3

In a large bowl, add the 100g of hotcake mix, 1 fresh egg, and 30ml of milk. Then, add all the finely minced seaweed to the bowl.

Step 4

Using a spatula or whisk, stir well until all ingredients are smoothly combined without any lumps. Mix thoroughly until the hotcake mix is no longer visible and you have a smooth batter. If the batter is too thin, it may spread too much when piping, so check the consistency.

Step 5

Transfer the prepared seaweed pancake batter into a piping bag. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a plastic bag by cutting off a small corner.

Step 6

Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Lightly grease the pan with oil using a paper towel. Pipe small, coin-sized shapes (or your desired shape) of batter onto the pan. Cook for about 1-2 minutes per side, until both sides are golden brown and look appetizing.

Step 7

Once cooked, transfer the seaweed pancakes to a large tray or plate and let them cool slightly. They taste even better and have a crispier texture when slightly cooled rather than eaten immediately while hot.

Step 8

Arrange the prepared seaweed pancake cereal attractively in a bowl. For extra flavor, you can serve it with a dollop of soft butter or a drizzle of sweet maple syrup. Alternatively, pour warm milk over them to enjoy them like a soft, cereal-like dish – a wonderful meal option.
