Introducing our early stage baby food: [Spinach] puree, perfect for introducing solids!
Spinach is packed with nutrients but can be a tricky vegetable for little ones. We’ve transformed it into a delicious and smooth baby food that even picky eaters will love! Give your baby a healthy start with this simple spinach puree.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch fresh spinach (approx. 100-150g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully wash the spinach under running water to remove any soil or debris. Pay special attention to cleaning the roots. Trim off the tough ends of the stems and gently shake off excess water.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the spinach and blanch for about 1 minute, just until it wilts. Overcooking can reduce its nutritional value, so a quick blanch is key.
Step 3
Immediately transfer the blanched spinach to cold water to cool it down, then drain thoroughly in a colander.
Step 4
Gently squeeze the spinach with your hands to remove any remaining water. Avoid squeezing too hard, as this can mash the leaves.
Step 5
Place the squeezed spinach into a blender or baby food processor. Blend until completely smooth, ensuring there are no lumps. If needed, add a small amount of boiled water (or breast milk/formula) to achieve the desired consistency.
Step 6
Portion the smooth spinach puree into baby food cubes or ice cube trays, about 15g per portion. Freeze these portions for easy storage and future use.
Step 7
When ready to serve, transfer a frozen spinach cube to the refrigerator the night before to thaw. To warm, gently heat the thawed puree in a microwave or using a double boiler until it’s a comfortable temperature for your baby. Always test the temperature before feeding.
