Main Ingredients
- 3 handfuls fresh soybean sprouts (approx. 150g)
- 1 serving cooked rice
Flavorful Soy Sauce Dressing
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 5cm portion of green onion or white part of leek
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 5cm portion of green onion or white part of leek
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the green onion or the white part of the leek for the dressing by washing it thoroughly and chopping it finely. The white parts of the scallions are sweet and fragrant, making them a great addition to the dressing.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, the finely chopped green onion, and 1 tsp sugar. Mix everything well with a spoon to create a delicious soy sauce dressing. Taste and adjust the amount of soy sauce or sugar to your preference.
Step 3
Rinse the soybean sprouts under running water two to three times until clean. In a pot, add enough water to cook the sprouts (similar to cooking rice). Add the rinsed soybean sprouts, cover with a lid, and boil over medium heat for about 8 minutes until the sprouts are tender but still slightly crisp. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.
Step 4
Once the soybean sprouts are cooked, drain them and place them generously on top of the warm cooked rice in a bowl. Drizzle the prepared savory soy sauce dressing over the sprouts and rice. Mix everything together with chopsticks or a spoon until well combined. Enjoy your delicious Soybean Sprout Rice Bowl! You can also add shredded seaweed (gim) or extra sesame oil for extra flavor.
