Nutritious Radish Rice (Mubap) for Kids: A Cold Prevention Recipe
Make nutritious rice for your child that’s simple yet packed with nutrients, perfect for preventing colds.
Radish is a natural digestive aid. This Mubap is excellent for preventing colds and is a meal our children will love, especially if they have weak respiratory systems or are picky eaters. This recipe is guaranteed to make them eat well.
Ingredients- Radish 400g
- Dried Kelp 4 sheets
- Rice 3 cups
- Mixed Grains a little
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your ingredients. Wash the radish thoroughly and use it with the peel on. (Use 400g)
Step 2
Dice the radish into small, bite-sized cubes. This makes it easier for children to eat and ensures even cooking.
Step 3
Add 3 cups of rice and a small amount of mixed grains to your rice cooker. For the water, fill it to just below your index finger’s first knuckle. This ensures the rice isn’t too soggy from the moisture released by the radish during cooking.
Step 4
Add 4 sheets of dried kelp to the rice cooker. The kelp will add a subtle umami flavor and depth to the radish rice, enhancing its overall taste.
Step 5
Add all the diced radish to the rice cooker. As the rice cooks, the radish will soften and infuse its natural sweetness into the grains, creating a delicious flavor profile.
Step 6
I cook this in a rice cooker. If you’re using one, select the ‘Mixed Grains’ or ‘Rice’ setting and start cooking. Follow your rice cooker’s instructions for optimal results.
Step 7
Your delicious radish rice is now complete!
Step 8
Notice the slightly browned, crispy layer at the bottom? That’s the ‘nurungji’ (scorched rice), and it’s incredibly delicious! The rice is tender, and the sweet radish makes it a delightful meal. We often portion and freeze leftovers for quick, healthy meals. This radish rice aids digestion and ensures regular bowel movements for your child – a truly beneficial and tasty dish.
