Main Ingredients- 5 Potatoes (medium-sized)
- 1/2 Onion (medium-sized)
- 1/2 Carrot (medium-sized)
Seasoning & Others- 1 Tbsp Coarse Salt (or sea salt)
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Perilla Powder (adjust or omit to taste)
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp Coarse Salt (or sea salt)
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Perilla Powder (adjust or omit to taste)
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients you’ll need for the dish. Peel and wash the potatoes, and rinse the onion and carrot thoroughly under water.
Step 2
Julienne the prepared potatoes, carrots, and onion into bite-sized pieces. Aim for about 0.5cm thickness for the potatoes and carrots. Slicing them this way ensures a tender and harmonious texture when cooked.
Step 3
Place all the julienned ingredients into a frying pan. Add 1 tablespoon of coarse salt and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. The salt will season the dish, while the garlic will remove any raw potato smell and add depth of flavor.
Step 4
Now, stir-fry the ingredients slowly over medium heat, being careful not to burn them. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes become translucent and tender. When they are almost done, stir in 1 tablespoon of perilla powder for a nutty aroma and slightly more stir-frying. It’s best to add the perilla powder at the end, as overcooking it can result in a bitter taste. The perilla powder will make the dish much more savory and deeply flavored.
Step 5
Finally, sprinkle a pinch of toasted sesame seeds over the finished stir-fried potatoes. Sesame seeds not only add visual appeal but also a subtle nutty flavor. Your delicious stir-fried potatoes with perilla powder are now ready!
