Ingredients
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.5 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp soybean paste (miso)
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligosaccharide)
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds (crushed or whole)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 1 clove of garlic. Mince it finely using a knife or a garlic press. The pungent aroma of garlic will enhance the sauce’s flavor. If you mince it too coarsely, it might have an unpleasant texture when eaten, so aiming for a fine mince is best.

Step 2

Now, it’s time to combine all the ingredients! In a bowl, add the minced garlic, 0.5 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp soybean paste, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp olive oil, 0.5 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp corn syrup, and 1 Tbsp water. Finally, add 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds, the key to its nutty flavor. Whisk everything together with a whisk or spoon until well combined and smooth. Once all ingredients are smoothly blended into a glossy sauce, your ‘Sesame Miso Sauce’ is complete! Isn’t that simple?

Step 3

Try using the finished Sesame Miso Sauce in various dishes. Drizzle generously over warm boiled or pan-fried tofu for a perfect savory and nutty taste. If you have some shredded seaweed (gim/nori) and fresh perilla leaves, you can top the tofu with them before adding the sauce for an even richer flavor experience. It also works wonderfully as a salad dressing or can add a unique twist to seasoned vegetable dishes.
