Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Hello everyone! Today, I’m excited to share a recipe for a delicious pan-seared zucchini salad that’s perfect for your dining table. It’s simple to make and incredibly flavorful, making it a dish you’ll want to make often.
Step 2
Wash the zucchinis thoroughly and trim off the ends. Slice them into round pieces, about 0.5cm thick. It’s best to keep them at this thickness; slicing too thinly might cause them to break apart during cooking.
Step 3
Lightly sprinkle the sliced zucchinis with salt and let them sit for about 5 minutes. This step draws out excess moisture, making the zucchini firmer and allowing it to absorb flavors better.
Step 4
Preparing the dressing in advance will make the cooking process much smoother. In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1/2 Tbsp plum extract, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Mix well. If you like, you can finely chop and add half a red chili pepper or some chives to the dressing for extra flavor and color.
Step 5
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Place the salted zucchini slices in the pan. Pan-sear them, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.
Step 6
Transfer the pan-seared zucchinis to a large mixing bowl. Pour all the prepared dressing over the zucchinis.
Step 7
Gently toss the zucchinis with the dressing. Be careful not to mash them; the goal is to coat them evenly. If you’re adding finely shredded chives or red chili pepper, mix them in now for added freshness and visual appeal.
Step 8
And there you have it – your delicious pan-seared zucchini salad is ready! It makes for a wonderful side dish, especially with a bowl of freshly steamed rice.
Step 9
Enjoy this flavorful pan-seared zucchini salad, where the sweetness of the zucchini perfectly complements the savory dressing. Happy eating!
