It’s also incredibly useful if you’ve struggled to make poached eggs with other methods. Just remember, you can only do one egg at a time.

  • 1 Egg
  • About 1/2 cup of water

Cooking Instructions

Fill a cup generously with water. For the best shape and to prevent the egg white from overflowing, it’s ideal to use a tall cup with a narrow base. (The cup in the photo was close to overflowing!)

Carefully crack the egg into the water in the cup. Set your microwave timer based on your desired doneness: about 1 minute for poached, 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes for soft-boiled, and around 2 minutes 30 seconds for hard-boiled.

Around 2 minutes 30 seconds, the foam started to rise, so I took it out quickly!

Carefully pour out the water from the cup, leaving the cooked egg behind.

Cut the perfectly cooked egg in half.
